♏️: What is one thing you cannot stand in a person?

‘Now that… that’s a tough one. Well, trying to pick a best “one thing” to answer with is, I mean. One would be dishonesty… well, maybe “betrayal” would be a better word, considering how many of my friends are spies. And another would be… mmm, not sure of the right word here, either… maybe malicious cruelty? The sort that comes from not seeing others as people, I guess I mean. I’ve seen a few such lately… and it’s been really hard not to just stab them in the vitals.’

‘That… might depend on what you mean by “love”. There’s the obvious, of course, in Rose – Baroness Sharo – and Alex LaCoria. But I don’t much fall out of love, even when I’ve been left – which leaves most of my exes still on the list, too. Then, there’s other kinds of love, like I have for Lady Renita Cartwright, or Lady Lux, or Countess don Perevelli, or… well, I have a pretty long list, really. And no, they’re not all nobles – I just move in those circles more of late, so they came to mind soonest, before I started seeing too many faces to keep up with naming.’

How do they see themselves 5 years from today?

‘Well, now… five years ago, if you’d asked me that, I’d have hoped to be making it as a bounty hunter or something, really just hoping to leave the gangs behind. I wouldn’t have expected to be a successful merchant, a surgeon, a veteran of fighting elder dragons… any of it. If you asked me three years ago, I would have answered with “crippled and begging in the streets, or dead.” Given that I have enemies shooting at me, crippled or dead is still way too likely, but… I’m gonna dare to dream big, this time. Even more successful as a surgeon than as a merchant, and a veteran of yet more fighting against the dragons, and quite likely ennobled in my own right, and not just marrying into nobility.’

She laughs, shaking her head. ‘Not that I really expect all of that, or care that much about being ennobled… but my previous expectations were so low from the mark, I’m going to stick with that anyway.’

‘I… have magic, but it… came on me too early, and under too much stress. It tends to all mix together, except for the kind that helps me hide and sneak – and snoop. I can’t cast much of anything, though. I’ve found I can craft with the magic these days, which sort of makes up for that, though I don’t normally offer ‘chanted blades or jewelry to clients.’

Who in her life does she fear to lose the most? If she did lose them, how devastating would that loss be to her?

‘That… would be tellin’, now wouldn’t it? I don’t need to be making someone a target, or setting myself up for the hurt such a loss would cause.’

(( In fact, for her, there are a lot of people she’d really be devastated to lose. It’s a tie for “most”, between Rose Sharo and Alex LaCoria. Losing either would feed badly into her depressive tendencies, and she would be notably broken by it for a long time, no matter how she’d try to hide it – and she would try. If she lost both, at once or too close together, she’d lose the fight against her depression. Within a few weeks, she’d find the highest spire she could climb, take off her greatcoat with the built-in glider and advanced armour – and jump. ))
